What we are doing in class:
This week we are looking at the elements of a plot. We will be applying these to various stories in Chicken Soup. Journals will be updated so please ask to see your child's journal at least once a week. (see Table of Contents below). The journals contain notes and study guides as well as work that we review in class. We are continuing with annotation and reading comprehension strategies that we learned last week.
Homework:
Any work not completed in class. This varies form student to student. They are writing the assignments in their agendas daily at the beginning of class, and it is checked. Please check infinite campus as it is up and working for current grades and missing assignments. You may need to get a password from the front office.
Every student should be reading for at least 15 minutes a night (each student set his or her own reading goals with teacher assistance). Please sign their reading log. Monday we will be going to the computer lab and some students will be given a reading website to visit for homework five nights a week. It is called Read Theory. Your child will bring home a username and password. Reading/Writing interest surveys, if not completed by now, may be completed for a score of 80. Your child can ask for a QR Code to get to the website.

Reminders:
- Coach books have been ordered and should be here soon.
- Computer lab next Monday. Please have your child bring headphones.
- Students are told to fill in their agendas each day when they enter the classroom. The should be routine for them by now. Please check your child's agenda and make sure they are filling it out each day for all classes.
- Visit quizlet at https://www.tinyurl.com/zing6
- Homework is not always handed out on Monday because they may not understand the skill for the week until later in the week. Homework, for me, should be review material. If your child is writing down their assignments daily, then they should have what they need to complete for homework. If you are unsure, feel free to message me on remind and I will clarify what they need to do. Thank you.
